I'm from Texas so my BBQ expectations are EXTREMELY HIGH. Abbeys BBQ and their sides reminds me of HOME! Do yourself a favor and get to this place. You can't go wrong with anything you choose, but I highly recommend the brisket and hot links......and don't forget the sweet tea! They also have a loaded brisket baked potato that is AWESOME!!

Pretty good barbecue! Fast and friendly service in a properly sized intimate location.

Been driving by this place for years and definitely have missed on some good BBQ! Highly recommended! Tartare of food was delicious and overall great customer service! Great ambiance! Can't wait to be back!

We were near the area and we were looking for a place to eat lunch. We noticed this place so we decided to try it out. We ordered *Smoked Burnt Ends- Tender smoked burnt ends with a caramelized crust, served with a side of seasoned fries and tangy barbecue sauce. *Beef brisket, cornbread , onion rings and 1/4 chicken, coleslaw I enjoyed the burnt ends and the brisket. I was happy that they weren't full of fat and that they were flavorful. The onion rings were ok. The corn bread was tasty, I liked that the coleslaw wasn't full of mayo, it was made perfect with just the right amount of flavor. My overall experience was positive. I would definitely order the brisket and burnt ends again.

KEEPIN IT REAL MOIST!!!! Let's talk about it! San Diego BBQ is it hard to find?? I think so most spots I eat at I don't leave a review because I don't like highlighting the bad! So here we are after searching far and wide Abby's came to the rescue! This spot did everything right and what it did wrong you barely noticed! My put peav when it comes to BBQ restaurants is the dryness of the meat. Being a deli BBQer I know this can be hard especially when trying to keep the meat hot.. and Abby's know the secret everything we got was hot enough and very juicy even the chicken. Few order the platter with tri tip, baby back ribs, chicken, corn bread macaroni salad, extra side of links and Texas Toast.!!! All I can Say is FIRE FIRE FIRE FIRE FIRE!!! The meat was juicy the chicken. Had bomb smoke flavor, the ribs which were the dry but, were soooo freakin flavorful it didn't even matter! Macaroni Salad FIRE!! Texas Toast FIRE!! No for the Stand out it Item!!! THE CORNBREAD!!! Listen to me when I say I do no eat corn bread growing up I always would say mom why do I want cake with my food... hard pass..... But Abby has changed that for me !! I will eat the corn bread in Loaves if the have it!!! Do yourself a favor and Go here and enjoy every minute eat slow!! We Love Abby's BBQ! To top it of ever

Customer service has been great here so far! The ambience is the typical bbq place you'd go to so pretty normal. We came on a Thursday around 4pm and it wasn't packed but the cashier was telling us that it gets pretty busy around lunch which isn't surprising considering it's right by MCAS Miramar. She gave us a recommendation for what to order as well since it was our first time and that's actually what we decided to go with! The food was all delicious. The chicken wasn't dry, the meat was tasty and just everything tasted well! Also got the Texas toast, the sampler came with a corn bread but it was a single small piece so I'd advise getting another one of those if you like cornbread. I'd definitely recommend it though! Would come back again

First off, the workers I had the opportunity to speak with were extremely kind. They answered all our questions to help us order. It was our first time at Abbey's (my family enjoys Phil's but I wanted to try something new) and we ordered the No. 2 (substituted chicken for brisket) and a side of hot links. It was the perfect amount for 2 people. The brisket was to die for- so tender and so juicy. It was falling apart as soon as I picked it up with my fork. The hot links were the perfect spice, especially because I don't fare well with spicy foods. The only thing I didn't love was the ribs because they were burnt. I'm not sure if it's something that I'm just not used to but the burnt flavor was overwhelming to me. The parts of the ribs that weren't burnt were tender but I couldn't get past how burnt the tops were. We had corn bread, french fries, and onion rings as our sides. The french fries were how I liked it- double fried, super crispy but soft. I don't love onion rings but the ones from here were crispy and didn't taste overwhelmingly of onion. The corn bread- wow! It helped cleanse my palette after eating so much meat.

I've been craving Texas BBQ and I'm so happy Abbey's Real Texas Bar-B-Q is so close to home! From the moment you walk in, the smell of smoked meat instantly draws you in. Their brisket is perfectly tender, juicy, and has just the right amount of smoky flavor. The portions are hearty, and the sides are satisfying enough. Staff is friendly and welcoming, easily answering any question you may have. They do get busy, especially on the weekends, so you might just have to order to go.
